Babies unknowingly Doing Yoga
Have you ever looked at a baby and said that looks like the yoga I do?
As babies learn how to move around they use a series of moves that look like yoga. I noticed this with my daughter when she was about 10 months old. The first move I noticed was the bridge, then the folding over. After this I thought this looks like yoga.
Here we have examples of how to do each pose. The first one is the bridge. This is done by laying flat on your back and lifting from the lower part of your body until you have lifted the back all the way up while keeping your shoulders and arms under you and your legs on the ground. That is how we do the bridge pose. When a baby does it they naturally just lift up without trying.
Another pose is folding over for an exercise. When a baby does this they fold over. When we do it some of us can fold over, others do not go all the way down without excess pain. To do this you have to be in a cross legged position, a baby does it with legs straight out in front of them.
Have you ever seen a pose called childsplay? In this position you are folded over yourself. For a baby, they are just on thier knees with the stomach folded over the body. Here is how we do it. We start in the hands and knees position. From that position we move back to sitting on our heels with our arms outstreched in front of us and our hands on the ground.
These are my own observations of my baby. Does anyone else have different thoughts on babyyoga poses? Does anyone have a baby that did different moves to crawl? I would love to hear your thoughts on baby yoga comparisons. I am not an expert on yoga I just do it for my well being. Please refer to yoga teachers to start any of these poses mentioned in this blog.
Goodby for now until next we meet.
